Automated Hemostasis Laboratory
The Core Laboratory and the Laboratory in Casa Maternitat carry out complete blood count analysis and hematologic cytology techniques, as well as common, automated coagulation techniques under the technical and scientific supervision of the Department staff:
- Automated Blood Count Unit: highly automated, high-volume analytic activity. Abnormalities detected on routine testing are reassessed by cytomorphological testing.
- Routine coagulation testing: focused on scrutiny of hemostasis abnormalities, including determinations to monitor oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT). Highly automated, high-volume activity.
- Urgent hematology and coagulation testing: also covers urgent testing 24 hours a day.
The Laboratory performs more than 400 000 blood count analyses, 140 000 coagulation tests and nearly 80 000 INR determinations for OAT dosing.
